3-Year Old Class Curriculum Goals and Daily Schedule

 

 

3-Year Old Class Goals:

 

Social and Emotional Skills

1.    Begin to express himself/herself in complete thoughts.

2.    Begin to show respect and concern for people and things around him/her.

3.    Begin to have appropriate control over his/her feelings.

4.    Able to follow simple directions.

5.    Begin to get involved in activities and seek appropriate share of adult attention.

6.    Begin to clean up after himself/herself.

7.    Begin learning to share and take turns.

 

Fine Motor Skills

1.    Begin learning to use scissors.

2.    Begin learning to put together puzzles.

3.    Begin learning to manipulate zippers, buttons, and snaps.

4.    Use a variety of artistic medium requiring fine motor skills i.e.: crayons, paints, glue, play dough.

 

Gross Motor Skills

 1.    Begin using alternate feet on stairs.

2.    Begin to jump in place.

3.    Begin to balance on left foot - right foot.

4.    Begin to throw a ball forward.

5.    Begin to kick a ball forward.

 

Art and Music Skills

1.    Work with varied artistic media and use art materials properly.

2.    Participate in music activities.

 

Practical Skills (Reading and Math Readiness)

1.    Begin to identify basic shapes.

2.    Begin to identify colors.

3.    Begin to identify which group is first and which is last.

4.    Begin to sort objects by color, size and shape.

5.    Rote count to ten.

6.    Begin to identify which of two sets has more or less.

7.    Distinguish between opposite concepts or ideas, i.e.: happy-sad, over-under.

8.    Begin to identify his/her first name.

9.    Begin to identify some body parts.

 

 

3-Year Old Class Daily Schedule:

Tuesday/Thursday

9:00 AM - 11:30 AM or 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

                            

9:00-9:25/12:30-12:55

Creative Play: Puzzles, Small group games, and socialization.

9:30-9:55/1:00-1:25

Circle Time: Calendar, weather, seasons, days of the week, months, name recognition, counting, show and tell, Pledge of Allegiance, and finger plays.

9:55-10:30/1:25-2:00

Art Time: Free-art drawing, tracing, cutting, easel painting, workbench, water table, block building, and play dough.

10:30-10:45/2:00-2:15

Snack Time

10:45-11:05/2:15-2:35

Gross Motor Skills: Playground or bikes (when scheduled), balls, jump ropes, gym equipment, and large group games.

11:05-11:20/2:35-2:50

Music Time: song, record, creative movement, etc.

11:20-11:30/2:50-3:00

4-Year Old Class Goals:

 

Social and Emotional Skills

 

1. Continue expressing himself/herself in complete thoughts and proper sentences, and

   continue asking questions. 

2. Has an expanding vocabulary.

3. Able to follow oral directions involving more than one step.

4. Listens quietly and displays a lengthening attention span.

5. Has a growing respect for authority and people and things around himself/herself.

6. Has a growing "positive" self-image.

 

Practical Skills (Reading and Math Readiness)

1. Identifies basic shapes and begins to draw them.

2. Identifies the basic colors.

3. Able to sort objects by color, size and shape.

4. Recognizes his/her own name in print and begins to print it using upper and lower case letters.

5. Begin to identify the seasons, months, and days of the week.

6. Can rote count to twenty.

7. Identifies quantities in a set of 0-10.

8. Identifies sets having "more than" or "less than".

9. Recognizes and points to basic body parts.

10. Distinguishes between opposite concepts or ideas.

11. Can say alphabet from rote memory.

12. Can identify some letter names and produce some letter sounds.

 

Gross Motor Skills

1. Throw, kick, catch and bounce a large ball.

2. Balance on left foot and right foot.

3. Hop on one foot and two feet.

4. Jump in place with two feet together.

5. Run, gallop and begin to skip.

6. Walk forward and backward.

7. Walk up/down stairs alternating both feet.

 

Fine Motor Skills

1. Begin to manipulate objects like zippers, buttons, snaps and shoe laces.

2. Begin to manipulate puzzle assembly, play dough, stringing beads and small toys well.

3. Hold crayons, pencils and scissors correctly and improving in use.

 

Art and Music Skill

 1.  Works with varied artistic media and uses art materials properly.

2.  Participates in music activities and begins to repeat

 

 

4-Year Old Class Daily Schedule:

           

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

9:00 AM - 11:30 AM or 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

         

9:00-9:25/12:30-12:55

Creative Play: Puzzles, Small group games, and socialization.

9:30-9:55/1:00-1:25
